Anselma House is a heritage leather and bookbinding workshop rooted in traditional craft, patience, and the belief that the things we make should be made well.

Founder & Maker

Anselma House started as Hank Belle Journal Co. in 2020 by a maker with a deep respect for tradition. For her, that encompassed craftsmanship, process, and the materials we choose to use.

Hank Belle made – and still makes – heirloom leather journals that became very popular both locally and online. What began as a desire to create a better journal became a commitment to making and designing more objects with thoughtful construction and honest materials.

So The Work Continued

What began with leather journals naturally grew into other forms—expanding the work beyond books and into everyday leather goods.

The Leather House Is Born

Today, every Hank Belle journal is made by hand inside our heritage leather workshop, Anselma House, in North Idaho.

Now the workshop crafts various leather goods and is home to 3 leather brands – all made from the same bench, tools, and materials:

  • Hank Belle (Journal line)
  • Anselma House (Handbag line)
  • 1910 Reserve (Leather drinkware line)
